Why We Should Be Like Nature

Nature has so many characteristics that we should be inspired by. And here it is why.

Trust the Timing of Events

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. - Lao Tzu

In nature, there is a timing for every plant, every tree to grow. No plant complains about the correct season to arrive earlier. There is a room for drought and stillness. And there is rain and snow bringing fertility to the soils.

But we respond to different seasons in our worlds different than nature. We always rush things and push events to happen before their time arrives. Staying in the flow of life is somehow very hard for us. We like to control things. We only see the bigger picture when things have passed and we look back into the past.

Maybe this can be an inspiration for all of us to wait for the timing. We can trust that we don’t need to hurry things and they’ll happen if and when they need to happen.

Be Open to Transformation

Nothing lasts forever in nature.

Flowers bloom, flowers die.

Leaves go green. Leaves go yellow and leave the tree.

The rain comes, the water flows strongly. And then there is perhaps drought in the change of season.

Just like that nature is always open to evolving, and accept change. The tree doesn’t hold onto the yellow leaves that want to leave, right?

But we hold onto things and people. They try to leave our lives but as we’re scared of change and unknown, we don’t allow the newness to come into our lives.

Let’s be like nature. Let’s be open to change and discomfort in not knowing what comes next.

The challenges we face in life with change may be hard and we may need to struggle to adjust. But they allow us to transform into our true selves in the end.

Live with Others in Harmony

All creatures in nature live in harmony. There is a stillness in the chaotic jungle. There are so many animals and plants, wild and innocent. Without one and other, nature doesn’t function well. Even the ugliest bugs or the geckos that we find icky have a task in nature. They all support their living and eco-system.

If we even try to see a deeper meaning in nature, we can see that no tree compares themselves with others and tries to pull the other tree down. They don’t discourage other trees saying you’re not enough. You can’t shine.

But unfortunately, people are different. We do compare ourselves with others. We discourage others who climb up the ladder trying to achieve things in their lives. We don’t support other people enough.

However, if we acknowledge that everyone has a role in life, even the ones that left us, we can learn to live in harmony and peace.

We rise by lifting others. — Robert Ingersoll

Supporting each other and living others not only allow other people to grow but we also shine our light. When we give, we receive in return. But do it without aiming for receiving. Just appreciate others’ effort in life and see the magic happening in you.

Now you know how nature functions well with trust and harmony. Now you know it doesn’t rush things to happen before their time.

Try to think where you can use these elements in your life and take the action. Create a better life for yourself and others around you.
